Our cell phone fundraiser program is sponsored by Shelter Alliance (www.shelteralliance.net), a program of cell phone recycling company GRC Wireless Recycling (www.grcrecycling.com). Through Shelter Alliance, nonprofit organizations raise funds through the collection & recycling of used cell phones, and businesses & consumers donate & recycle cell phones to benefit nonprofit participants.

The Valencia Shelter for Victims of Domestic Violence is an agency dedicated to helping clients to grow and heal through support and by empowering them with choices.

OUR SERVICES CAN HELP YOU

SHELTER:  Safety and support, including accommodations, food and clothing for victims of domestic violence and their children. Safety issues, legal advocacy, and work issues are addressed.

TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROGRAM:  Our transitional housing has five units available for women and children who have completed a successful shelter stay and who are staff recommended.  The rent is based upon HUD's pro-rated guidelines and encourages women to work toward creating a life free of violence. With counseling, parenting skills, and legal referrals, a client receives encouragement to complete her GED or attend the local branch of UNM for an associate's degree and to get life-sustaining employment. The transitional program empowers a family to become self-sufficient without a dependency on familial abuse.

NON-RESIDENTIAL COUNSELING: Addresses issues of domestic violence and the family: anger management, improved communication skills, and expectations of/from spouses; keeping the family intact.

CHILD WITNESS PROGRAM: Provides emotional support and healing for young witnesses of domestic violence through "play" therapy in a safe and supportive environment.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH & EDUCATION: Provides education to many community sectors and to the schools of our community, offering intervention and options to potential victims before situations become crisis. We are available to speak to your group. Volunteer for work, school credit, or play (Volunteer support activities). You are always welcome. Join us!

ABUSER INTERVENTION:  A 52-week program working with abusers.  Topics covered are substance abuse, violence effects on family members, anger management, better parenting, etc.
